When Local connection icon doesn't show on your bar, there you have to do something as shown the following;
First, go to > Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > double click on the "Local Area Connection" icon > chose the bottom "General" > press the bottom "Properties"> mark the "Show icon in notification area when connected > then press OK. (finished)
